Why Consensus over token voting? 🪙

GM/GN! 👋🏼

Here we all are: creating new culture (LFG! 🚀), new universes within universes, new economies and technologies, so why are we still using the cryptic form of governance known as voting? Seriously, how has voting ever served us before and why are we reproducing it now?

Under the guise of a free, operational democracy voting has catalyzed as "they way" to make sound decisions. It is leading the way as a foundation for decision making protocols on and off chain. But why? Why are we still trying to minimize voices in order to come to decisions when while so many are silenced, their good ideas and novel opportunities wasted?

Consensus should not be "rough," it has a life of its own through deliberation and dialogue: we just need to give it space to breathe. Ideas and initiatives shouldn't be denied because they don't have enough 👍🏼 or resources, they should only be denied if they cause harm, they should only be denied in the worst case scenario.

With consensus we deliberate an initiative until it seems to makes sense and we get all the pieces together and working. Then we continue to dialogue until everyone is on the same page. We only dissent as an emergency protocol to abort disaster. One one dissent is required to deny the initiative. Then we can try again.

Join us at Stacks Advocates DAO in building for consensus, an elder and wiser alternative to voting.
