How I started creating NFTs

Hello there,

I'm Arno from earth, I'm an NFT artist on Stacks and Bitcoin from Belgium and in this article I'm going to show you some of the works I have done and how I got into making NFTs.

My journey as an NFT artist began with a tweet from the official Stacks twitter page back in October 2021, they were organizing a spooky Halloween NFT competition. At the time I didn't understand how NFTs worked but I kept seeing NFTs pop up everywhere and my interest was peaked, I also wasn't doing any art stuff then but I already had some experience with some of the programs I use today thanks to working in the printing industry.

After seeing the clear instructions from the Stacks competition on how to set up your Hiro wallet and how to mint your own creation on Stacks trough Boom.money I decided I wanted to try out making my very first NFT.

A witch brewing some Stacks and to my surprise it got second place in the competition!!

I was very excited after that about making more NFTs, I started making a small collection and some 1/1 pieces that I minted again with boom.money and put up for sale on the STXNFT (now Gamma) marketplace. And not long after, I got my very first NFT sale!!

This gave me a huge boost, I loved creating these NFTs and the fact that people liked my work enough to buy it made creating a passion and one of my favorite things to do and learn about!

With all the excitement going on and another NFT competition that was announced by STXNFT (now Gamma) around CityCoins I didn't think twice about participating in it.

And I got second place again!!

Because of the success of this piece in the competition I also made a small official collection of it with 2 variants of the design but it didn't pick up any steam and still hasn't got any sales https://create.stxnft.com/collection/nycc-collection.

I wanted to point this out because it's not always going to be smooth sailing, but if you're an artist and you are passioned about creating you keep trying to improve your art and learn more ways to create it.

Next I picked up a small wacom drawing tablet, it's definitely something you don't need but I was looking for more tools that I could use to create my art and I made my next piece that was auctioned off on Sacks Art.

This gif shows some steps behind the creative process.

I also just love making art for making the art and made some fan art pieces of projects and things I like, here are 2 of them.

I most of the time only made illustrations but I also got into making animations, and after I got the chance of making a test animation of an explorer from The Explorer Guild an NFT project from the writing platform I'm writing this article on Sigle I got hooked on animating!

Since then I have been learning and animating almost daily and made some fun animations.

Recently I got the chance of making a piece that would become one of the first auctions on Gamma and Gamma also invited me to participate in a collection with works from over a dozen amazing artists on Stacks called "Together, with Gamma".

So what's next for me?

I have been quietly working on a very cool project I can't reveal yet but definitely give me a follow on twitter if you like what I do and want to keep up with my latest works https://twitter.com/arnofromearth , more is coming!

Thank you for reading!

Kind regards, Arno
