“I make no distinction between painting and poetry,” said Miró at one point and this is exactly what Grace Hye is striving for with her next The Poem collection. Driving inspiration from Miró's works, particularly from his works from the 1920s and 1930s which include poetic inscriptions and the three paintings from 1968 which are entitled "Poem", Grace Hye seeks the artworks of this collection to be like a poem set to music by a painter.
Poetry finds, in Miró, an eminently plastic translation. But, independently of the physical aspect it takes on, poetry is a substrate, a state of "spirit" that inspires his entire creation. And this is the same "spirit" that will haunt Grace Hye's collection, a subtle incantation that will allow to the artist to bridge the physical distance between her works and Miró's. Because the obvious differences in composition, arrangement and materials will be erased by this common "spirit" shared by both artist's works.
Even more strongly for this collection, the pictorial space is, in itself, a metaphor for the blank page, which welcomes the words of the painter - free brushstrokes, defined forms, visual signs and, as a whisper of the poetic texts, one or two singing birds hidden in the back.
The Poem is again a Grace Hye's NFT collection with a strong entanglement with the physical world; all NFTs will come with a physical painting that will be posted worldwide to the holder of the NFT. The NFTs and paintings of the collection will be on sale at the same time at Gamma's marketplace and at Galerie Nouvelle in Paris.
The paintings will come all in different sizes and shapes, the price might also change from one painting to another. Keep in mind that this time you'll be buying a physical painting with a NFT as certificate of authenticity, the price of the collection will be slightly higher than a purely digital artwork.
If you're a holder of any of Grace Hye's previous collections on Stacks and you collect a Poem NFT, you'll get a complimentary NFT right into your wallet, a surprise gift for all your love and support!
The Poem is also the NFT collection submitted by Grace Hye for the Art Basel Community Challenge, an event sponsored by Gamma & The Mintery.
We really hope you enjoy Grace Hye's artworks and that they bring to you inspiration and happiness, because, as Miró also said before, "An artwork should be fertile. It must give birth to a world."
See you soon in Miami! In the mean time, if you want to keep posted, you can always join Grace Hye's Discord!
