Dear Mirlo friends,
Since we started this newsletter, many things have happened, and it is also difficult for us to catch our breath and seize the moment.
As we mentioned last week, in the studio we try not to lose track of our projects, and we are preparing concerts and other publications, although we are still not entirely clear on how we are going to send them to you, apart from through this newsletter, of course.
Therefore, we are going to take a little distance, and review what led us to start this project in the first place, our objective being the creation of content with the best music to “cultivate our inner garden”.
Why cultivate our inner garden?
Because it is essential when we must face so many daily challenges. It is not necessary to get dramatic to see that every day we must confront situations and difficulties beyond our control, even those of us who have the privilege of moving on with our lives when so many are being broken.
Here you have a video that came to us a few days ago... A professional Ukrainian pianist gives a moment of poetry amid desolation. Her integrity is admirable, and her daughter, who is the one who records her, will surely not forget this farewell to their home. Click on this link to see the full video.
Mirlo's mission...
The character of Mirlo, as Georgina presented him to us in her stories, is the one who gives us access to what we find difficult to understand. Mirlo shows us the way to better observe, to listen carefully. Then everyone is free...
From our studio, we want to recover that human legacy, which has enlightened us through Art, and that the new generations have the right to know. For this reason, we maintain our motto, and we try to offer you content that you can share with your family.
“Cultivate your inner garden” means the same today as it did 25 years ago, but today we must fight for it more, because we are having less space and time for intimacy.
Both children and adults are crammed with information, social communication... and the education of the little ones is being intervened from all fronts.
A few days ago, I asked Manuel what lessons from his childhood does he think have marked him the most: those from school or those from home? His answer was clear: the ones from home. I can say the same thing, and almost everyone we ask… Everyone has memories of what made them happy in childhood, showing us that kind face of life, to which we can turn to when things around us get complicated.
Vision
We can only guess what the future will be like, and what they tell us is already here. But nothing is decided yet, so it's not worth giving up. In addition, whatever it may be, human life will always be more worth living if we are surrounded by Art and Music, the best human imprint.
For this reason, we want to imagine a future in which children continue to learn with parents, grandparents, as a family... Regulated education is increasingly compromised, and it is necessary for each one to take responsibility for their own.
Our vision for Mirlo is that in the future we have more occasions, spaces, and moments of shared experiences between children and adults for a free and happy humanistic education.
And to achieve this we are going to take advantage of all the means at our disposal.
