Fitness Tip Review - You Don’t Need to Follow a Strict Diet. Just eat whole foods and prioritize protein

TLDL – Instead of a diet, try to 1) add more protein 2) eat a vegetable with every meal and 3) limit or remove sugar from your diet. You don’t need to do them all at once, start with step 1 and after a month of success try 2 and then 3.

Agree – I have three tips that I give people trying to look for easy to follow advice regarding their nutrition. Following these tips can easily replace any tough-to-follow diet.

Tip 1 – Eat more protein

Protein does not impact blood glucose and insulin levels like carbohydrates. And for the weight conscious, protein is not as calorically dense as fat.

Therefore, if you want to eat more food, adding protein will not have as much of an impact on blood sugar as other foods.

Furthermore, eating more protein to a feeling of fullness has also been shown to be one of the best ways to moderate weight.

Also, if you eat more protein, chances are you eat less carbohydrates or fat. Which if you are watching your total caloric intake, is generally a good thing.

Focus on just accomplishing step 1 for at least 2-4 weeks.

Tip 2 – Try to eat a vegetable with every meal

The reason I push this tip is for almost the same reasons as with protein.

If you just try to get any vegetable in your meal, it means you probably will eat less of something not-so-healthy.

The added vitamins and minerals are a bonus.

Tip 3 – Limit / remove sugar

Only once someone is able to routinely eat more protein and include vegetables with all their meals do I now suggest they completely remove sugar from the diet.

This is a tough step, which is why I like to make sure they are successful already with steps 1 and 2.

If the first thing someone does to manipulate their diet is trying remove sugar, it is likely that they fail.

Best to get some momentum going with your quick diet adjustments.

As for me, I generally follow some variation of a Paleo diet… and have been doing so since 2009.

My food intake will alter with my goals. For the past two years, I have been mainly eating meat and fruit.
