University of Greenwich Pioneers Bitcoin Education with Innovative MSc Business Analytics programme

University of Greenwich, STXLDN, Stacks Foundation, and NoCodeClarity collaborate to bring cutting-edge Bitcoin and blockchain technology to higher education.

LONDON, 9th October 2024 - In a groundbreaking move that bridges the gap between academia and the rapidly evolving world of blockchain technology, the University of Greenwich has announced the integration of Bitcoin and Stacks development into its MSc Business Analytics program. This innovative module, developed in collaboration with STXLDN, Stacks Foundation, and NoCodeClarity, is set to launch on October 14th, 2023, running through November 8th, 2023.

The "Digital Economy, Tools and Techniques" module will provide over 80 students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in building decentralized applications (dApps) on the Bitcoin network. Utilizing NoCode and AI tools, students will gain practical skills that are highly sought after in today's digital economy.

The four-week intensive program covers a comprehensive curriculum:

  • Week 1 (Oct 14-20): Introduction to Stacks and Bitcoin, including an overview of the Stacks blockchain, its relationship with Bitcoin, and an introduction to the Clarity programming language.

  • Week 2 (Oct 21-27): Smart Contracts and Decentralized Applications (DApps), focusing on the fundamentals of smart contracts and building DApps on Bitcoin through Stacks.

  • Week 3 (Oct 28-Nov 3): Web3 Development Fundamentals, introducing Web3 concepts, comparing Web2 and Web3 development, and exploring Web3 development tools.

  • Week 4 (Nov 4-8): Advanced Topics in Blockchain Development, covering scalability solutions, interoperability between blockchains, and security considerations.

Each week includes both lectures and hands-on seminars, allowing students to immediately apply their learning through practical exercises and group discussions.

"This collaboration exemplifies the synergy between academia and real-world tech needs," said Suresh Singh, Head of Business Development at STXLDN. "We're thrilled to be part of shaping the future of blockchain education and nurturing the next generation of innovators."

Key highlights of the program include:

  • Practical experience with Bitcoin and Stacks technologies

  • Use of NoCodeClarity platform for building dApps

  • Integration of AI tools in blockchain development

  • Focus on real-world applications and industry needs

This initiative is the result of collaborative efforts between industry leaders and academic visionaries. About Stacks

While building on the security of the Bitcoin network, Stacks combines attributes of Layer 1 blockchains and Layer 2 scaling solutions into one hybrid design.

Leveraging the robust decentralization of Bitcoin, Stacks functions as a Layer 2-like framework but with some of the autonomy of a Layer 1 chain. -- Learn More
