So what is so special about Metaverse? Don't we have already tried it before?

The second life:

Here are what significant differences between Metaverse and Second Life.

Monetization

All virtual world is built to make a money stream for their own purpose. For example, meta built Metaverse for users to keep using Facebook Apps. Bit branding companies built their virtual products so people can continue believing in brands.

Second life also makes money out of their virtual world through selling virtual objects.

A channel to test new products

Metaverse is a way to test new products that can be released through the virtual world rather than the physical world. However, since the cost of the physical world has increased, it will become infeasible to test on physical materials rather than on infinity and a cheaper virtual world.

Like VR set Meta wants to test out, they will build it into their Metaverse for users to enjoy and receive results from Meta's end.

A data-sucking funnel

Data will be shared with companies that own the Metaverse. It helps companies research, build a better world, and sell their advertisements with products later.

What is the future of the Metaverse?

One of the applications is to test out public policies. Unfortunately, the government made horrible policies that made society worse. However, the Metaverse can provide a way to test public policies and how they can impact the community.

Sum it up

Metaverse is a marketing tool. But we can make it a better solution to help society.
