Songs from Kirot Dün - Longstreet & Nonnish

At the heart of the Nonnish Kingdom lies Shafts of Light, a pen and paper collection that has captivated the imaginations of many within the Stacks community. As a fan of the music and art of the middle ages I became a quick Nonnish enthusiast, and it has always been Ronin's hand-drawn artwork that has stood out to me the most. Feeling inspired, I set out to create a musical piece that would match the vibe as I have also done for other communities including Project Indigo, Megapont, Goblintown, The Weirdos, Stacks Parrots, and Stacculents. Sitting down with my guitar in a precious and short moment of solitude, I soon crafted the Nonnish melody, which would become the Lute Solo.

The music was so evocative that I felt it deserved an accompanying image to be used in my customary music visualizer. While I expect that someday AI will be advanced enough for someone to ask it to, “make a pen and paper drawing in the style of Ronin, of a minstrel sitting at the base of a tree in a moment of respite sitting outside the castle walls,” that was not a viable option to me. Besides, nothing beats a hand-drawn piece of art so I mustered up my SoL-holding divinity and entitlement and beseeched the incomparable Ronin to put aside his academic studies for a couple of hours and draw. What he came back with was a work of art that perfectly captured the essence of what I had envisioned. I continued to write two more musical pieces to expand upon the theme, each with its own unique charm and musical purpose: The King's Consort, and the Peddler.

The Peddler version is meant to reflect the experiences one may have when visited by the Shroom Peddler (wink wink) and this music required some manipulation to create an otherworldly soundscape. In keeping with Ronin's original pen and paper approach, I decided to use no computer-generated sounds or samples. Instead, I manipulated and stretched various sounds from the flute, guitar, mandolin, and even a bowed piano. For those curious about the bowed piano technique, check out my Proof of Piano 1 of 1 for a demonstration. The resulting three pieces stand in contrast with each other, yet fit beautifully together in a collection, a divine trifecta (meaning collectors with the finest taste should definitely hold all three).

The Nonnish community is a place filled with skill, talent, and culture, and it's one of my favorites. If you haven't yet joined in the pleasantry and debauchery, I encourage you to jump in. With Kingdoms on the horizon, there's never been a better time to discover the rich world of Nonnish.

Below are the shroom yield details and collection description for Songs From Kirot Dün, Vol 1, which is now minting for 33 STX each on Gamma.io:

“In a tranquil glade of solitude, the Nonnish minstrel doth pause from regaling the peasantry with melodies sweet, to caress the verdant blades of grass and pluck the strings of his lute. Ere long, his comrades in song, the members of the King's Consort, do join him, accompanying him with flutes, drums, and tambourines. Their journey beyond the castle walls doth take a sudden turn when a Peddler doth arrive, bearing a collection of one hundred and one music videos, wrought in the NFT form, of a Nonnish theme composed by Longstreet, and adorned with original illustrations by the incomparable Ronin. The holder of each NFT shall not only bask in the beauty of the music and art, but also be blessed with Shroom bonuses.”
