It was a very busy weekend and I wasn’t feeling so great. I needed some comfort food to keep me warm and make me feel better. So I went for my favorite chili recipe, Homemade Turkey Chili. I seared the turkey in the Instant Pot with some avocado oil, spices and fresh garlic. I added some chopped onions and red peppers. Once the turkey is fully cooked, I add organic tomato sauce and organic chicken bone broth. I let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Lastly I added the kidney beans and cooked for about 10 minutes. I let the chili rest on warm for about 1 hour before serving.
I almost never use pre-mix or chili kits. Not because they aren’t good but because I can limit the amount of salt and adjust the flavors to my desire. For toppings, I add some sour cream, chives, cilantro, and red onions chopped. The benefit of the turkey chili is that the dish is extremely lean with very little fat but is very tasty. A wonderful alternative if you crave for this dish but are on a low-fat diet.
