Winters can be extremely cold here in the desert but the spell does not last long. Right now, in my opinion, is the best time to start planning and getting ready for that hiking trip or desert exploring adventure you have been sitting on. The ideal time according to All Trails is Fall or Spring. Typically, Mid March to May is an excellent time to hike here in Arizona. And one of my favorites places to visit is Sedona, in the heart of the state. This relatively quiet town is located just a couple hours north of Phoenix, which makes it ideal for a quick visit if you are traveling through or stopping by the area.
I’ve completed a few trails including the Bell Rock and the Airport Loop. This last one being extreme due to the rocky terrain. I picked these two as they are said to be located around powerful energy vortex points.
Be prepared. Wear hiking shoes, boots or appropriate footwear according to the season and weather. Wear comfortable, breathable fitness wear, bring water, a hat and shades. This goes without sayin but be prepared and stay safe!
