The small town is called San Carlos, located in the northern state of Sonora, Mexico. This is a tourist town a few minutes drive from the fishing and port town of Guaymas. San Carlos is well known for its fishing, scuba diving, and beautiful desert and beaches. Its relatively close proximity to the norther border with the U.S. makes it a perfect quick gateway for those of use living in Arizona.
The beach pictured here is called Playa San Francisco, by the entrance to San Carlos and near the Estero del Soldado, a protected natural habitat area.
This beach is far from the popular beach spots in town which makes it an ideal area for photoshoots and relaxing away from the heavy crowds. In my opinion, this is one of the best places to appreciate the beautiful Sonoran sunsets because the ocean is always relatively calm, there are direct views to the Tetakawi mountain and the sunsets set perfectly behind the mountain line.
Be sure to prepare for the weather and choose the right attire for the occasion. Bad weather is typically well advertised in advanced and one can prepare with enough time for possible changes in weather. On this occasion, a slight cool breeze did require a slight protection.
