I received a Wine Aerator for Christmas and I have been using it none stop. The purpose of the aerators is to expose the wine to oxygen as it is being poured. This is what we winos call letting the wine “breath”. This action boost the flavor of the wine and lets the individual notes come out stronger. Aerating the wine won’t change the quality of it, not will change the flavors, it will only enhance them. So aerating your less favorite bottle of wine would not help.
So get yourself an Aerator, start popping some corks out and enjoy!
Since we are in the topic of wine aerators, check out The 7 Best Wine Aerators of 2023 to find the latest and greatest in aerating technology for 2023.
Read more about the benefits of aerating and how the wine changes by doing it so. The article Why Aerate Wine? Science Behind Letting Wine Breathe goes into more details regarding the chemistry of this practice. For me it is all about enjoying a great glass of wine.
Besides turning my lips completely purple, some red wines can absolutely give me a headache the next morning. These side effects can be linked to one added ingredients to most wines out there, Sulfites. The article Skip The Side Effects: How To Avoid Sulfites In Wine explains what are sulfites and how to avoid them. Note, there are great options of wine out there with no or low Sulfites levels.
